Expertise contributed:
Draka-Prysimian
Cees van Duijn
Contamination control
Draka – Prysmian noticed water molecules that diffesud and polluted the production process of glass bars (base material for glass fiber). This had a negative effect on the damping characterstics of the glass fiber. Cees van Duijn, expert in the field of Cleaning Control, has helped Draka-Prysmian for a couple of months to determine the cause of the pollution and to improve the production process.

NEDAP Lighting Controls

Client:
Technical Expert:
Expertise contributed:
Nedap Lighting Controls
Johan Jacobs
Thermal Flow Analysis
One of the key technologies within Nedap are “light controls” for lighting applications. These products always contain electronics in an enclosure that produce heat. Temperature management in these products should not be an issue, no matter where in the world they are used. The thermic expertise of Johan Jacobs is complementary to the knowledge available internally at Nedap, due to his broad experience with calculating the thermal stability of new product designs.

Hitec Power Protection

Client:
Technical Expert:
Expertise contributed:
Hitec Power Protection
3T
Electronics development & embedded software
Hitec Power Protection develops UPS-systems that provide conitinuous and uninterruptible power.  The heart of the system is a digital controller (Dicon). A number of components within this Dicon became obsolete, causing delivery stop of a critical component. This motivated Hitec to develop a new generation product that would prepare them for the future. 3T was the development partner in this project. The next generation product is faster, more precise and cheaper than the older version.

Posterama

Client:
Technical Expert:
Expertise contributed:
Posterama
Niels van der Stappen
Knowledge of plastic materials
Posterama produces stickers and transfers for several applications, amongst others bycicles and consumer electronics. These products are also used in “in-mould labels”, meaning they are integrated in an injection moulding process. For specific questions regarding materials used, Posterama cooperates with Niels van der Stappen, materials expert in the field of plastics. He is also involved in the development process for new applications using printed electronics.

Thales Cryogenics

Client:
Technical Expert:
Expertise contributed:
Thales Cryogenics
Jan Lambrechts
Glueing and joining technology
Thales Cryogenics develops and produces cryogenic coolers. The company often uses conventional joining technologies. For a certain application these technologies would not be sufficient and gluing would perhaps be an alternative. Gluing expert Lambrechts has supported Thales in this process. The result is that Thales now knows which glues are suitable and in which way a stable process is achievable when applying the glue.

Anteryon

Client:
Technical Expert:
Expertise contributed:
Anteryon
Breutech
High precision system architectures
Anteryon produces optical components that are used in several applications, especially high precision applications. For one customer Anteryon planned to deliver an integrated system. This small-sized system would contain high precision moving parts, besides the optical components. The company requested a system architect experienced in mechatronic designs to support them. In Bob Reuser of Breutec they found the right partner. He developed the system according to specifications.

ASML

Client:
Technical Expert:
Expertise contributed:
ASML
Gert-Jan van der Gulik
Thermic analysis
The equipment of ASML has to oprate under very tight conditions regarding accuracy. In order to garantuee this it is essential to keep the temperature very stable. ASML has many specialists with thermic expertise. Sometimes this capacity is not sufficient, sothe company has to look for additional capacity externally. Alwin de Kock of Solfic has contributed to several projects with his experience and knowledge of thermal processes and analysis.

Vostermans Ventilatoren

Client:
Technical Expert:
Expertise contributed:
Vostermans Ventilatoren
Rowald Franck
FEM analysis
The ventilators of Vostermans are developed and produced internally. For that the companies wants to have better insight in the mechanical behavior of the rotor blades during operation. These blades deform slightly due to rotation and air movement, both static and dynamic. Rowald Franck, expert in the field of FEM-analysis, performs these calculation for new rotor blades, thus ensuring optimal operation of the ventilators.
